Semiotics in Advertising:
John Lewis Christmas Advert 2014 - #MontyThePenguin
The Advertising shows the
friendship relationship between the boy and the penguin, however at the end of
the video shows that the boy is playing the penguin - This suggests that the
penguin is only a figment imagination the boy had created. Therefore it is
not friendship since the penguin is not real.
The soundtrack is soft, calm and sad "Don't need to be alone" the
lyric gives a hint that the boy is lonely.
The relationship between the communicated meaning
and the product the advert is trying to sell is aims at the same objective
since the message at the end of the video said:
"give someone
the Christmas they're been dream of"
which suggested that we
should buy presents for people is important to us and the advert is try to
convince people to buy their products.
